Ritual Textiles was born from a refusal to follow the script.
Our founder, Claire, has always been a bit of a black sheep, never quite fitting the mold of what was expected. By day, she worked as a software engineer. By night, she pursued stand-up comedy and pole dancing, balancing a career in tech with a love for creativity, self-expression, and movement.
With a lifelong passion for health and wellness, and inspired by women who dared to build businesses of their own, Claire decided to dream bigger and take a chance on entrepreneurship.
Her first attempt was a Shopify store selling macramé swimwear sourced from China. That venture came to an abrupt end when a friend developed blisters after trying on a sample.
What began as a setback became a turning point. Claire started asking a question she'd never thought twice about: What exactly are we putting against our skin?
Years later, while sitting in a sauna, she overheard a woman say she'd never drink from a plastic water bottle in the sauna. Claire had to hold back a laugh at the irony. They were all sitting in the same sauna, sweating in swimsuits made from plastic.
That night, she went searching online for cute, natural-fiber swimwear. She came up empty-handed.
So she bought a sewing machine and signed up for sewing classes.
When she wore her first handmade swimsuit to Gevity Social Wellness, her local sauna spot in Austin, Texas, other women started complimenting it in the locker room. They were shocked to discover it was made from wool. Then came the inevitable question: "Can you make me one?"
Before long, her preorder page had more orders than she could sew herself.
Nine months and eight fabric suppliers later, Claire found a manufacturing partner in Türkiye who could bring her vision to life: what she calls the world's most flattering 100% wool saunakini. 🐑👙

What We Make
At Ritual Textiles, we're reimagining what swimwear can be.
Our swimsuit fabric is made from 100% merino wool, a natural fiber that's soft, breathable, and naturally odor-resistant. They're designed to look and feel like the swimwear you already love, without relying on synthetic fabrics.
We believe women shouldn't have to choose between looking good, feeling confident, and being mindful of what they put against their skin.
Our hope is simple: that every woman who wears Ritual feels as confident in her swimsuit as she does in the choices she makes for herself and the planet.
